The endearing alpacas are normally at home in the South American Andes, but some specimens have found their new home on the eastern shore of Lake Attersee. A small, fine herd grazes on the lush meadows in Weyregg am Attersee and enjoys the temperate climate.

Between Lake Attersee and Lake Traunsee, a spectacular mountain and valley landscape unfolds, which was designated in 2012 as the third and largest nature park in the state of Upper Austria. According to legend, a beautiful water nymph lived at a waterfall in the Weißenbach valley. An easy but rewarding family hike leads to the Nixen Waterfall. The starting point of the hike is the Fachberg Bridge in Weißenbach am Attersee. The path is very well signposted and very popular.
